La Cantonale 130km
Today the team headed to France for a grippy 130k of French racing.
It was full gas all day with the winning move going just half an hour in. I was too far back in the pack when it went so missed out!
I was keen to get back to the break so got in some strong moves and went solo for a number of kms but nothing was sticking as everyone wanted the same.
Splits were happening all day with the strong crosswinds so I had to stay attentive and be in a good position.
After the big 100km loop we went back to town and started 2 smaller 15km circuits. With one lap to go i put in a big dig on the climb and we distanced the depleted pack and pushed all the way catching half of the break but not everyone. With 2km to go I went again on the attack down hill to the finish and got 3rd in the bunch sprint so ended up 19th overall.
We also won the team prize which was a bonus and showed we worked very well as a team.
I'm happy with the result as it's my first race over in France this year in a strong French national series.
I hope to keep the form going for my upcoming targets.
Thanks for coming :)
